It’s been the most exciting month we’ve ever had in the brewery…even though you wouldn’t know it from the outside!
That’s because we’ve been tucked up in the office and not making much noise, but last week we heard from Westmeath County Council who have made the decision to grant planning permission for our small (but perfectly formed) 70 square meter micro-brewery at Custume Pier in Athlone.
That makes it official…Westmeath is about to have it’s first brewery in almost 200 years.
It’s been a tough journey to get to here…and really, the hard work is only starting. At this point, we have a few weeks to allow for objections to be lodged with the planning department, but we are working away in the background on some of the finer details (such as our fire certificate and our water effluent discharge license).
Our plan at this point, is to move as quickly as possible to install the brewery floor and get the tanks in place before moving on with some of the more cosmetic features of the build.
Exciting times lads!
